Hidden Baby Blog - November 26, 2010

Ok, my side of the family officially knows!! FINALLY we don't have to keep it a secret from them. We stayed here in OKC this year and spent Thanksgiving with my family. We went over to my parents house in the morning with a copy of the same letter we used to tell Michael's parents. When we got there, my sister and brother were both still asleep, but we couldn't wait to tell! We weren't there for 10 minutes before we pulled the letter out and gave it to my parents. Once again, we had a lot of hugs and crying! After telling everyone else, we spent the day eating and relaxing. It was perfect :)

Although our families know, we are still keeping this somewhat of a secret until December 10th. At that point I will be almost 10 weeks, and we are scheduled for an ultrasound that day to make sure everything is ok. If there aren't any concerns, we'll start telling everyone we know!

We did break our own rule last Sunday and we went ahead and told our church small group. We just couldn't keep if from them anymore! They have become some of our closest friends and we were so excited to share the news with them :) Once again, there were lots of hugs and some crying, which is becoming very common for us :)

We're so excited for the ultrasound on December 10th. As long as everything is ok, this will officially become the UN-Hidden Baby Blog!

Hidden Baby Blog - November 21, 2010

We just got back from a quick weekend in Kingsland, TX, and the secret is out to Michael's parents, brother and sister! We left Friday after work to surprise them with the news. We didn't get into Kingsland until around 12:30 a.m., but Michael was too excited to wait until the morning to tell. Michael's dad was already awake, but we had to go wake up his mom. We brought in a letter that we said was an "anniversary present" (It was also his parents 27th anniversary on Friday) It was actually the letter from the baby. They figured it out pretty quick what was going on, and there were lots of hugs and tears.

Can't wait to tell my side of the family on Thanksgiving!

Hidden Baby Blog - November 13, 2010

Well we went to the doctor on Thursday, and it's confirmed...we're going to have a baby!! I am 5 weeks, 5 days along. We are seriously so excited. It feels a little more real now that we've been to the doctor, but it's still crazy! I have no pregnancy symptoms at all (knock on wood), but that could all change the further along I get. But so far, so good!

We think we've decided on how we're going to tell our families. We are going to have a letter written to our parents from the baby. The whole letter is really cute and it's pretty sneaky about giving the secret away. They probably won't realize what is going on at first, but they'll figure it out pretty quick :)

We're going to Kingsland next weekend to tell Michael's parents. It's their anniversary, so we think it will be the perfect time. We'll be here in OKC for Thanksgiving, so we plan to tell my parents then. We probably won't be announcing it to friends until December. We go in for our ultrasound the first week in December, so we'll wait to make sure everything is ok and then make the announcement! It's tough because we found out so early and we've been dying to tell everyone! But we're trying to have patience and we know it will be worth it when we do tell everyone :)

Our next appointment is November 22, so we'll let you know how it goes!

I Love Fall

The title of this post says it all. I've always loved fall, but this year it has probably been the best ever. A LOT has happened since my last post. I've started my new job teaching 3rd grade, which I LOVE! We've sold our house, bought a new one and moved in. Michael had his 26th birthday. And there is still so much going on! We are having a blast, which is why I haven't written in a while. We've been busy! I'll have some house pics to post soon. In our new house, I'm getting to actually decorate because we have room! We doubled the amount of space we had in our old house. It's amazing. I'll write again very soon and include pictures, and I promise it won't be 4 months :)

Hidden Baby Blog - November 7, 2010

We've known for 5 days now that we are going to have a baby, and it has been SO hard not to tell everyone we know!! We just got back from a trip to Phoenix for Michael's grandmother's 80th birthday party. Everyone on Michael's side of the family was there. I mean EVERYONE: parents, siblings, grandma, aunts, uncles, etc. We were dying to tell them! But, we know I'm probably only 3 or 4 weeks along, and we haven't even been to the doctor yet, so we've decided to keep our lips sealed no matter how hard it is. And believe me, it's HARD! So I'm apologizing in advance to all of the family when they find out we knew while we were there :) Just know we can't wait for you all to find out! Our first doctors appointment is this Thursday at 9:45 a.m., so until then....

Hidden Baby Blog - November 2, 2010

Welcome to our baby blog!! We are sooo excited to announce that we are pregnant!! We just found out today, so no doctors visits have happened yet, which is why we decide to start this blog. Some good friends of ours had a hidden baby blog going until they revealed the exciting news so that they could keep track of exciting things even though they weren't telling anyone yet. I loved the idea, so here we are doing the same thing!

I took a pregnancy test this morning before I went to work. It was positive! BUT, being somewhat of a skeptic, I thought for sure the test was broken and decided not to tell Michael until I had gotten more tests to confirm. Well, I took 2 more tests and guess what....positive! So, when Michael and I got home I had an "early birthday present" for him to open. Yep, it was the tests! Needless to say, we are both so happy :)

We haven't decided yet when or how we are going to tell our family and friends, we just know we're not doing it yet. We definitely want to see the doctor and make sure everything is ok first. But as soon as we have decided, I'll blog about it!

Get excited for Baby White 2011!!!!

Conquering the 'To Do List'....

Hello July! Wow, this summer is flying by. I really thought I would have finished a lot more of my projects by now than I have, but I can't say I'm suprised. It's kinda in my nature to procrastinate :) Anyways, I thought I'd go ahead and post a few of the things I HAVE actually completed over the past month. Don't get too excited, it might take a total of 15 seconds for me to list everything, but here goes nothin:

-I had previously written that I desperately wanted to find a new dresser for our bedroom. Since we recently got rid of my highschool, black iron canopy bed (FINALLY!) and got what we call our "grown up bed", my black dresser didn't match. I wasn't sure if I wanted to save up for the dresser that matches our new bed, or try to find something inexpensive and do the whole mix and match thing. Well, we were driving back from a visit to Michael's parents house in Texas and stopped at an antique store. This place was full of treasures! Seriously, if we'd had a Uhaul handy, I might have done a lot of damage! Unfortunately, we didn't have much room, but we did have just enough to haul back my new dresser! I love it! It still needs a little work, but I absolutely love the color and the style of it.

-Ok, the next thing wasn't exactly on my original to do list. It was one of those things that I did when I didn't feel like doing anything on my actual to do list. But, now that it's finished I'm glad I did it. I wanted to spruce up the wooden chair I had in my classroom this past year and give it a little pizazz. I still have to find the perfect cushion (I thought I found one with a perfect brown pattern, but my eyes were just playing a trick on me, and when I got home the brown was actually black :( ) but other than that it's finished!

I know what you're thinking..."Is that ALL she's done?!" Well, the answer is pretty much YES! It's summer! I'm taking full advantage of my 'allowed to be lazy' time and it has been wonderful. However, I will say that I've been doing some organizing around the house. I've also attempted at some gardening and also figured out which t-shirts I'm going to use for my quilt (both of which are on my to do list, thank you very much!) Anyways, I know everyone is eagerly anticipating the completion of all of my projects, so I'll be sure to post pics as soon as I have something to show! (That was a joke by the way. Courtney, I think you might be the only one who reads this!)

Until next time!

Summer

Summer is here!! I wasn't sure if I'd ever make it to this point, but I have now successfully completed my 1st year as a teacher! It wasn't easy, I'll tell ya that much, but I can't wait for many, many more years to come with the kiddos.

Now that school is out, I've found myself not exactly bored (I would NEVER complain about getting to sleep in everyday!) but I guess you could say restless. I seem to feel the need to start a million different projects to keep myself busy. I haven't really completed anything yet, but here's my "to do" list that I'm aiming to conquer:

- Find the perfect fabric to make curtains out of for our master bedroom (and FINALLY finish the hemming on the one's I've already hung in the other rooms)

- Either find a new dresser and nightstand for our bedroom (preferably an old one at a garage sale that I can redo) OR use the dresser we currently have in our living room and replace it with something really cool :) Here's what I would LOVE to have in our living room under our TV:

ahhh I love El Paso Imports :) But, I also have a budget to follow, so this might just have to wait. Hopefully I'll find something really unique that's similar to this piece that I can redo and make just as beautiful.

-Make a T-shirt quilt out of all of my college t-shirts. I've wanted to do this for SOOO long!! I've just never had the time to do it (or atleast that's been my excuse) Welp, guess what? Now I do!!

-Do some gardening. I've always enjoyed planting flowers and making the yard look pretty, but I've always picked my flower choices based on what color I like the best instead of the important things like how much sun they need, which ones grow best together, etc. So, I'm hoping to sharpen my gardening skills a bit this summer and maybe create a new flowerbed in our backyard.

I know there's more, but this is more than enough to keep me busy for a while. I'll post updates on how things are movin' along!!

Adventures in Cookie Baking

Well, I've never been much of a cook, and it usually takes me a few tries to get something right, but for some reason I decided that I should try to make fancy cookies for Mother's Day and my sister's graduation the night before I need them. Suprisingly, it turned out ok! Not perfect, and I definitely messed up a few of the steps, but I'm satisifed. And now I may even have a cookie baking addiction....

Here are some pictures throughout the process. Courtney and Jen, these are for you!

Just getting started......

All done baking and beginning the icing!

Finished!

It's been a while...

Well, I started this blog so excited to get on every day and fill everyone in on what is going on in our lives, and obviously that isn't what happened!! I can't believe it's been this long since our last post. We have definitely had a busy past couple of weeks; Weddings, jobs, and this crazy winter weather!

We actually just got home from a pretty crazy weekend as well. Michael's sister, Kallie, plays basketball for the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton TX, and has been a starter for 4 years. She's a senior and will graduate in May, so Michael and I went to TX this weekend to watch her play. She also just got engaged!! Congrats Kallie and Colby!! It was a lot of fun to see the family, but a lot of flying/driving places, and the trip was definitely too short!

Michael is enjoying his new job in the Insurance business, but it is a lot of hard work, and it's been a little stressful. We're definitely thankful for this new opportunity, and he's much happier than he was at his old job, but keep us in your prayers! Financially, it's a lot more difficult not knowing how much his paychecks are going to be each month, but we're making it!!

It's conference week this week at school, so I have a lot of preparing left to do before I go to bed. I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Friday, January 1, 2010

Well, 2009 is officially gone and 2010 is here! So what is the right way to say the name of this new year.....two thousand ten?.....twenty ten? I guess we'll have to wait and see. We had a great time last night with our bible study group, playing games and eating TONS of yummy snacks. And we all made it to midnight! Woohoo!

And speaking of 2010, there is something that is already going on here in the WhiteHouse....my birthday! The big 2-5. Yes, I am a New Year's baby, and no, I was not the first baby born on that day. I didn't get any free stuff, scholarships or tax breaks. But I still get to have a huge birthday party every year with all of my friends! I guess that makes up for it :)

Today, Michael and I slept in and then went to see the new Twillight movie, New Moon. Neither one of us have read the books, but the movie was still pretty good. I think I'll be excited when the next one comes out. After, we went to my parent's house and had my family birthday party, which was fun. My mom makes the best chocolate cake for birthdays, which unfortunately I was too full to eat after all of the movie popcorn, but I brought some home and will definitely enjoy it tonight! To finish off my birthday, Michael has made reservations at an unknown restaurant at 7:00 p.m., which is less than an hour from now. So, I better go now and get myself ready for my birthday dinner :)

P.S. My mother-in-law called to tell me Happy Birthday while I was writing this, and my father-in-law called and sang me the entire Happy Birthday song this afternoon. I was just thinking that I'm very lucky to have such great in-laws. Love you guys!

Until next time.......
